Phenolic is a material used in the Aerospace and Electronic industry for its superior insulation properties. It has even been used by NASA during space exploration as a heat barrier. Phenolic is made by compressing layers of resin soaked canvas while under heat. When cured, it has a brown grainy appearance which is commonly mistaken as “wood”.

We use Phenolic spacers to stop the transfer of heat from the engine to the intake system. Intake manifolds readily transfer heat through the intake manifold, heating the air which has an adverse effect on performance. Phenolic spacers stop this transfer, therefore lowering the air temperature, reducing the influence of detonation while increasing performance.
